Each quarter and at the holidays the Valley Bank Employees Give Back Committee selects a project as a way for employees to give back to the community. For 2014, we once again selected The Salvation Army as our bank-wide holiday project. Employees were able to give back in three different ways to The Salvation Army.
On Saturday, December 6, 22 employees and some family members volunteered as Salvation Army bell ringers from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bonsack Kroger. It was a very successful day for bell ringing! At the end of the day the Valley Bank Bell Ringing Team handed Captain McKinley a very full red kettle.
Valley Bank employees also participated in the Forgotten Angel Toy Drive by filling eight very large boxes full of fun toys, games, balls, dolls and other items for the children in our area. All of these donated items were given to the "angels" who were not selected from one of The Salvation Army Angel Trees or who were selected, but gifts were not returned for them.
Finally, we had 14 employees and family members volunteer at The Salvation Army, on Thursday night, December 4. The Valley Bank volunteers helped wrap almost 400 gifts for the kids' Christmas party on Saturday, December 13. As part of the celebration, the kids got to open one gift at the party and then the parents were able to take the remaining gifts home for Christmas morning.
